Ceist an Taibhse - Short Film Teaser
‘Ceist an Taibhse’ is a film about the moment you realise that you need to make yourself vulnerable in order to progress.
An expression of the creative process, this story is told through the archetype that is still found in most Irish families today, of the ‘soft’ man with the hard exterior who may struggle to show his true feelings and who often finds self expression through creativity as a result.
Shot on 35mm black and white, we wanted it to feel like an artefact from an older Ireland. We also utilised vintage lenses and authentic props of the era.
Our title, Ceist an Taibhse or The Ghost’s Question, is a riddle kept at hand to check if a being encountered in a remote place is human or otherworldly. If the being couldn’t answer the riddle it would be exposed and would be banished.
When our protagonist enters the cave, he isn’t sure if the ‘being’ playing back to him is his echo or a creature from the other world. Regardless, the echo acts as a reflection of himself, forcing him to look inwards and process his emotions.
We see this old Irish tradition as a metaphor for self reflection, of confronting your demons, of learning to let go of difficult emotions, and of moving forward.” - Richard Harvey, Director

La Di Da - ‘Communicate’ Music Video
“For this project we decided to give ourselves the challenge of creating a one take music video on 16mm film. With one roll of film available to us containing 10 minutes of footage, this meant that we only had two takes to get it right.” - Richard Harvey, Director

Pecking Party - ‘Descendent’ Music Video
“To fit in with Pecking Party’s style, this music video was inspired by low budget 80s horror and sci fi films. It features the band being picked off one by one in classic slasher movie style by a mysterious character from another world.” - Richard Harvey, Director

“Dublin-based electronic band Pecking Party have released their latest single ‘Descendant’, accompanied by a powerful sci-fi music video.”
“Playing out like a mini-movie, the clip matches ‘Descendant’s tone perfectly and draws the viewer deeper into the song with some enigmatic visuals and a story reminiscent of an M. Night Shyamalan movie”
